We spent a wonderful night at Loft by the Lake, a truly special place beautifully blended with nature. The atmosphere is calm, refreshing, and thoughtfully designed with great attention to detail, while still maintaining a lovely sense of simplicity. The property is owned by Hareen Maithreepala, whom we randomly met during a road trip.. and what a fortunate meeting that turned out to be. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and completely at ease. A special mention must go to the caretakers, Mahinda and his wife Sweenitha, who took excellent care of us with genuine warmth and hospitality. The food was very tasty, wholesome, and definitely value for money. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unwind in a peaceful, nature-filled setting. Best is to have a chat with Hareen directly and get the directions from him, it makes the journey and the experience even more perfect.

We had a wonderful stay at this eco-friendly private hotel over the weekend. The property is beautifully surrounded by lush paddy fields and a forest reserve, offering a calm and refreshing natural atmosphere. The caretaker family Mahinda and suneeth was extremely warm, friendly, and attentive, making us feel truly at home. The food was very tasty, freshly prepared, and full of authentic local flavors. Their service was excellent, thoughtful, and well organized throughout our stay. Overall, it was a peaceful and memorable experience, and we highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing nature

The Loft by The Lake was our first stop on the way to Anuradhapura. We were traveling by tuk-tuk, and the hosts kindly helped us with directions and stayed in constant contact with us. The loft itself is a treehouse with its own kitchen and bedroom. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the caretakers, who helped us settle in and also prepared dinner and breakfast the next day. The house and its surroundings are rice fields and local village life, which offer a very different experience from the usual tourist spots in Sri Lanka. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend this place to travelers who appreciate small adventures and authentic experiences.

A fantastic rural location in farming country. We stayed two nights and had an amazing time. Our host and hostess were the very best we have had the pleasure of being with. Sonita cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner in the local style with local fresh ingreidiants. We had an amazing variety of the most tasty food imaginable. We strongly recommend a stay.

We stayed at the loft for two nights in April with our kids (ages 7 and 3), and it was truly a unique and memorable experience—we absolutely loved it! The food was delicious, and the caretakers, Mahinda and Sunitha, were incredibly warm and hospitable. There's plenty to do around the property, but even if you just want to unwind, it's a perfect spot. The cool breeze and lush greenery create such a peaceful and refreshing atmosphere. While there’s no A/C, the fans worked well as long as the windows were left open to let the breeze in. Just remember to use the nets at night to keep out small insects—nothing alarming, just something to be mindful of in a nature-filled setting.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Loft, a hidden gem nestled in a beautiful village setting — and it was nothing short of magical. With serene water bodies and towering mountains in front, and lush paddy fields at the back, the hotel offers a peaceful, postcard-perfect escape into nature. The building itself has a charming rustic feel and is thoughtfully designed to blend in with the natural surroundings. Waking up to the sounds of birds and the gentle rustling of trees was such a refreshing change from city life. You can often spot Gray langurs playfully swinging through the trees nearby — completely harmless and a delight to watch in their natural habitat.
