Definitely something I'd recommend.

After leaving the island, we stopped at a quiet part of the lagoon for refreshments. We timed our trip around sunset and were so glad we did. The golden light across the water was beautiful, and it gave us some time to simply sit back and enjoy the surroundings. The boat ride back was peaceful, and we finished the trip with lots of photos and a few funny stories about the monkeys. It wasn't an overly long or tiring excursion, which made it perfect for a relaxed afternoon or evening in Negombo. Definitely something I'd recommend if you want to experience the lagoon in a different way.

Such a simple but memorable moment.

When we reached Monkey Island, the experience became much more playful. The monkeys were incredibly curious and came close when we had the fresh fruit provided by the crew. It was definitely one of those moments where everyone on the boat was smiling and taking pictures. The best part for me, though, was the refreshment stop on the lagoon during sunset. The sky changed colour and the reflections on the water were beautiful. Sitting there with a drink and watching the sunset was such a simple but memorable moment.

something we could enjoy without rushing.

We booked the Monkey Island tour while staying in Negombo and it turned out to be such a fun little adventure. The boat ride across the lagoon was very relaxing, and the scenery was beautiful as we made our way towards the island. Our guide was friendly and explained what to expect before we arrived. The monkeys were definitely the highlight! They were very curious and playful, and getting to see them up close while feeding them fresh fruit was such a fun experience. It felt very different from the usual sightseeing activities and was something we could enjoy without rushing.

Incredibly relaxing and scenic.

The journey through Negombo Lagoon itself was incredibly relaxing and scenic. The boat ride took us through a mix of open water and narrow mangrove-lined channels, each offering something different to see. Birds, small wildlife, and the peaceful reflections on the water made the entire experience feel very calm and immersive. The guide was knowledgeable and shared interesting information about the ecosystem and local fishing life, which made the tour feel more meaningful rather than just sightseeing.

It wasn’t rushed at all.

What I really appreciated about the Monkey Island tour was how well balanced it was between relaxation and engagement. It wasn’t rushed at all, and there was plenty of time to enjoy the scenery, take photos, and observe the wildlife. The crew made sure everyone had a good view whenever the monkeys appeared and encouraged a respectful way of interacting with them. Everything felt safe, well-managed, and thoughtfully planned, which made it easy to just sit back and enjoy the experience.
