The waves here are gentle and consistent year-round, making it the ideal training ground whether you've never stood on a board or you're brushing up on the basics.
Our Beginner Surf Lesson in Galle runs for 1.5 hours, led by local surf coaches who grew up riding these exact waves and know every shift in the swell. You'll start on the sand, learning the fundamentals of safety, positioning, and the pop-up technique, before heading into the water for guided, wave-by-wave coaching.

Itinerary
Arrival & Welcome
Arrive at our beachside spot in Galle and meet your local surf coaches. Take in the ocean view, settle in, and get ready - changing rooms are available on-site.
Surf Briefing
A 10–20 minute hands-on lesson on the sand covering safety, board positioning, and the pop-up technique - everything you need before hitting the water.
Into the Waves
Head out to Dewata Beach with your coach by your side. Practice catching waves, standing up, and riding - as many tries as it takes to get that first ride.
Cool Down & Refresh
Back at the center to rinse off, relax, and soak in the post-surf glow with a quick refreshment break.
Wrap-Up
Session complete - leave with new skills, salty hair, and memories of your first wave in Galle.

Nice beach for beginners. School was fantastic, I visited with my family, very professional, safety induction first and dry practice, not too long later in the beach with 3 dedicated teachers which detail attention to improve position and make the best for the trip. The best for the kids is no need to swing with the Board, the wave are strong enough close to the beach that you need to walk make it fun and less muscle demanding. We have a nice time, thanks to Rapid Adventures.

Awesome experience surfing at Beach Love surf school. Knowledgeable instructors that give one-on-one lessons in the water. We were beginners and caught a lot of waves. After confirming the basics we got straight in to the water. I'd recommend this place.

This is such a great place to learn surfing!! I am so happy we found this school. Vishwa helped us with the basics and Kushan and Sanju helped to start catching waves. I was messing up so much at first, but they helped me relearn and get calm. I am so greatful! Also, there is a dog that surfs. You can learn too 🐶
