From Kandy to the trailhead
Guests are picked up from their hotel in Kandy and driven to the Alagalla trailhead near a scenic tea factory. Enjoy the peaceful countryside as you head toward the foothills of the Alagalla Mountain Range.
Hike through tea & forest trails
Begin your trek through lush tea plantations and into a forest reserve, gradually making your way toward the summit. The trail is a beautiful blend of greenery, mist, and mountain air.
Summit views & picnic break
Reach the Lion Rock summit and take in the breathtaking panoramic views of surrounding hills, valleys, and villages below. Pause here for a well-earned picnic lunch surrounded by nature at its finest.
Descent, viewpoints & return
Carefully descend the trail, passing by another scenic rock viewpoint on your way back. Once you return to the trailhead, relax and enjoy the drive back to your hotel in Kandy — with photos, memories, and mountain vibes in tow.

The forest is home to many different creatures and teeming with leeches. Carry a bottle of Dettol antiseptic to quickly detach any leeches that may cling to you. Beware of allergies to insect bites and stings.

The Alagalla hike was challenging but incredibly rewarding. The guides made sure everyone was safe and encouraged, while the views along the way kept us motivated.
